To train mid-career extension professionals at Diploma and BSc levels in the field of agricultural extension and rural development;

To improve the effectiveness of grassroot extension professionals involved in the agricultural development programmes of the respective nations;

To upgrade the academic and professional qualifications of extension professionals by equipping them with up-to-date theoretical and practical  knowledge in the field to enable them to meet the challenges of the ever increasing and sophisticated multidimensional issues in agricultural development; and,

To encourage African universities and colleges to develop responsive programmes.
